About Railway

A connectable railway system for three.js and React Three Fiber: modular track that branches like a road network, stations and depots, working signals, and steam and diesel rolling stock. Every asset ships as a GLB with a typed R3F component, with one shared material and no textures.

What's inside

  • Track: straights, standard, tight and wide curves, double track, left and right points, T-junctions, diamond and slip crossings, an end stub, gradient ramps, viaduct straights and curves, a bridge, a tunnel and a flyover crossing
  • Stations: a station building, platform edges, ramps and canopies, a footbridge, waiting shelter, ticket machine, nameboards, a station clock and a city terminus trainshed
  • Depot and yard: an engine shed, a four-road roundhouse, a turntable, coaling stages, a water tower and water crane, an inspection pit, a goods shed and a gantry crane
  • Signalling and trackside: semaphore, distant, shunt and colour-light signals, a signal gantry, a signal box, a level crossing with barriers, mile and gradient posts, telegraph poles and lineside fencing
  • Rolling stock: a steam locomotive and tender, a tank shunter, a diesel locomotive, a DMU railcar, passenger, guards and mail coaches, coal, hopper, tanker, cattle, flatbed, container and freight wagons, a brake van and a snowplough
  • Atmosphere: steam plumes, diesel exhaust, wheel sparks, plus clear, golden-hour, misty, overcast and starry-night sky domes

Grid, scale and palettes

Track and terrain tiles are 4 m and seam arm to arm on a 4 m grid. Heights are metric while rolling stock is authored at about 0.65x and compressed in length, so a train fits the module instead of sprawling. Four palettes ship: Clear Working Day, Golden-Hour Steam Era, Overcast Misty Morning and Lamplit Station Night, all remapped through one palettes.json.

Prebuilds and use cases

Ten decoratable set-pieces drop in as a working railway: a station platform, a junction with its signal box, an engine yard, a level crossing, a goods yard, a terminus, a shunting yard ladder, a branch-line halt, a viaduct run and a tunnel section. Decor stays as named nodes, with empty slot anchors for your own props. The kit fits train and transport games, model-railway planners, transit visualizations and cosy diorama scenes.

Railway FAQ

Straights, curves, points, the T-junction and the diamond crossing all seam arm to arm on a 4 m grid, so you lay a branching network the way you lay roads. The track tiles and ballast_tile are directional: the formation runs along Z, so rotate a tile to face the arm it carries rather than dropping it at any rotation.
The elevated family climbs exactly 1.60 m per ramp tile. track_gradient_ramp_tile runs flush with the line at the bottom and level with the viaduct deck at the top, and the viaduct straight and curve butt flush, so a viaduct can run longer than one tile. track_flyover_crossing_tile carries a second line over the first; reach its deck with a gradient ramp and a high ramp at each end.
Heights are metric, but rolling stock is authored at about 0.65x and compressed in length: a locomotive reads 7 to 8 m and a coach 8 to 9 m, so a train fits the 4 m module. Place stock on the sleeper top. Its wheel flanges drop below the rail head, which keeps it seated on the track.
Yes. turntable is exported as a static disc with the girder deck as its own named pivot, so you can spin the deck yourself in three.js or R3F. Pair it with the roundhouse or engine_shed, or start from the engine_yard prebuild, which arranges the turntable, shed and yard for you.
station_platform, junction_control, engine_yard, level_crossing_scene, goods_yard, terminus_terminal, shunting_yard_ladder, branch_line_halt, viaduct_run and tunnel_section. Each is a merged base plus named decor nodes you can show, hide or replace (a coach, a signal, yard clutter) and empty slot anchors for snapping in your own props.
Every asset is a web-optimized GLB (binary glTF) with Draco-compressed geometry — 132 files, 1.3 MB in total, about 254,803 triangles across the pack. Load them in plain three.js with GLTFLoader plus DRACOLoader — or in React Three Fiber with drei's useGLTF hook. The licensed download also includes typed React Three Fiber components for the pack.
Yes. The Pack Commercial License lets you use the assets in anything you ship, commercial included. What it does not allow is reselling or redistributing the files themselves — the license page has the full list.
Yes. Stylised Lifetime ($69, one-time) includes Railway — every Stylised pack, including new ones. Buy it once and it is yours to keep. See Stylised Lifetime for everything it includes.
Yes — 105 of the 132 assets are on the free tier (marked Free in the grid above). Download them with a free account, no card and no attribution required. You can also walk the whole pack in the interactive 3D demo before you buy.
