About Accessibility Kit

The Accessibility Kit covers the assistive gear and accessible infrastructure most 3D libraries leave out, built as one colorful family at true 1:1 metric scale. A wheelchair parks at a desk, and a ramp set beside a building you already have makes the entrance work.

What's inside

  • Assistive devices: behind-the-ear and in-the-ear hearing aids, a cochlear processor, an AAC tablet, a refreshable braille display and embosser, long and folding white canes, a guide dog harness and switch buttons
  • Mobility: manual, power, sports and kids wheelchairs, a mobility scooter, a rollator, crutches, a running blade, prosthetic arms and a standing frame
  • Built environment: a modular ramp set with straight runs, a landing and a turn, handrails, a wide automatic door, a platform lift, a lowered counter, an accessible toilet module and step-free school and home entrances
  • Streets and transit: road tiles with curb-cut crossings baked in, tactile paving, an accessible parking bay, a raised-kerb bus stop, a crossing beacon, a low-floor bus with a ramp and a wheelchair-accessible van and taxi
  • Play, gaming and sensory: a wheelchair platform swing, a roundabout with a roll-on bay, a ramped play structure, an adaptive controller, a sip-and-puff rig, a sensory tent pod, a bubble tube lamp and a calm corner nook

Prebuilds and palettes

Six decoratable prebuilds ship as a static base plus named decor nodes you can show, hide or swap, and empty slot anchors for your own props: inclusive_playground_corner, accessible_classroom, accessible_street_crossing, accessible_bus_stop, adaptive_gaming_den and stepfree_entrance.

Color is vertex color from palettes.json in four moods: Bright Commons Day, Golden Playtime, High Contrast and Lit Commons Night. At night, device LEDs, screens, crossing beacons, shelter lamps and the sensory lights glow.

Scale and setup

One unit is one meter, Y-up, +Z forward, on a 4 m tile grid, and every asset seats on y = 0. Each asset has its own GLB and typed React Three Fiber component, alongside a combined Draco-compressed accessibility.glb catalog. It fits inclusive city scenes, school and healthcare visuals, accessible game levels and accessibility awareness content.

Accessibility Kit FAQ

No. The braille is decorative geometry: real raised dots at a real cell pitch, so the surfaces read and light correctly, but the dots do not encode readable text. The tactile paving works the same way. The blister field and the corduroy guidance line use real dome and bar pitches, yet neither is certified against a national standard, so treat them as visual signatures rather than specifications.
Pivots sit where you would actually place the object. Wheeled assets such as buses, vans, cycles and trikes pivot at the rear axle with +Z forward, and props on a stand or arm pivot at the foot of the stand. Every pivot is still on the floor at y = 0. If you need the box center, read it at runtime with new THREE.Box3().setFromObject(obj).
High Contrast (the cool key in palettes.json) is modeled on a real high-contrast wayfinding scheme. Ordinary surfaces drop to slate, while every stair nosing, handrail, kerb edge, door frame and tactile surface turns luminous yellow. It is useful for showing how contrast guides people through a space, or for testing that your own scene still reads when color is reduced to its essentials.
It combines an upper ramp run, a turn and a lower ramp run with an entry sign, a planter and a parked chair as separate decor nodes you can hide or swap. Four empty anchors, slot_lift, slot_bike, slot_bench and slot_route, carry transforms for attaching your own props, so you can add a platform lift or a bench without touching the static base.
Every GLB loads from the web root. Copy glb/accessibility.glb, everything in glb/individual/ and everything in glb/prebuilds/ into /public flat, not into subfolders. The catalog component asks for /accessibility.glb, so keep it alongside the rest. Prebuild components carry a Prebuild suffix so they never collide with the same-named catalog asset.
Every asset is a web-optimized GLB (binary glTF) with Draco-compressed geometry — 92 files, 5.9 MB in total, about 1,533,706 triangles across the pack. Load them in plain three.js with GLTFLoader plus DRACOLoader — or in React Three Fiber with drei's useGLTF hook. The licensed download also includes typed React Three Fiber components for the pack.
