Catch Point
The sprung trap point at the foot of a falling siding: a planed switch blade lying open against its stock rail on extra-long point timbers, the spring lever and its coil beside the track, and the drive rod between them. It is set to derail anything that runs away rather than let it out onto the main line — the detail that tells you the railway is being operated, not just laid.
