Snowplough
The independent plough kept at the back of the shed for a hard winter: a raked timber-and-iron wedge blade with its bolted shoe and warning chevrons, a flaring wing that throws the snow clear of the sleeper ends, flanging blades slung under the solebars on real hangers, a ballasted body behind it and a lookout cab with a stove pipe for the man riding it. Push it in front of anything and the branch stays open.
