Barrow Crossing
The boarded crossing at the platform end, where the porters take a barrow over the running line: worn timber baulks laid between the rails and outside them, spiked down, with a retaining timber along each edge. Lay it over a straight track tile at the sleeper top and the boards come up flush with the railhead.
