Ballast Tile
The crushed-stone rail bed, tipped and tamped: a full 4 m bed of angular ballast heaped proud along the centreline, oiled dark where the sleepers sit and dry pale out at the shoulder, with the odd shed stone rolled down the batter. DIRECTIONAL, like the track tiles it beds: the crown is 2.60 m across and runs the full 4 m ALONG Z, so turn the tile to face the arm it carries (ry 90 for a line running east-west) rather than dropping it at any rotation.
