The open goods dock: a stone-faced bank topped with worn timber decking at wagon-floor height, a heavy rubbing beam along the wagon edge with its ring bolts, a barrow ramp down at one end and two dark tracks polished into the boards where the sack barrows have run for forty years. Stand a freight van against the edge and the floors line up.
