Telegraph Pole

The lineside telegraph: a creosoted pole with two cross-arms of white porcelain insulators, twelve wires BOUND to those insulators and falling away down the line on a real catenary, a climbing step or two and the cast date plate. The wires are deliberately airborne and named with the hang pattern, so they read as declared rather than as a floater needing a waiver. The pole carries a fixed 1.90 m stub each way — one merged geometry cannot know where its neighbour stands — and a world places poles at the 8 m design span and draws the run tip to tip.
