About Realistic City

Realistic City is a physically based city kit for three.js and React Three Fiber, built at true metric scale. Unlike the low-poly packs, every asset carries real PBR materials, so brick, asphalt, glazing and steel respond to your lighting and environment map.

What's in the kit

  • Buildings: a New York brownstone, tenements, row shops, a corner store, a stainless diner, a café, lofts, a strip mall, warehouses and a factory shed
  • Towers and civic: a glass skyscraper, an office tower, a hotel, a highrise apartment slab, a Beaux-Arts city hall, a library, a theater, a church, a school, a hospital wing, a bank and police and fire stations
  • Street network: roads, junctions, crosswalks, a roundabout, highway tiles, overpass piers and spans, a tunnel portal, sidewalks, cobbles, bike lanes, railway and tram track, a metro platform and tunnel, canal quays and a truss bridge
  • Street furniture and signage: lamps, traffic lights, hydrants, bus shelters, fences, scaffolding, power poles, billboards and neon shop signs
  • Vehicles and sky: a sedan, taxi, police car, ambulance, city bus, garbage truck, sports car, tram, metro car and railcar, plus day, sunset, overcast and night sky domes

True scale, 12 m module

One unit is one meter, Y-up, +Z forward, and every asset seats on y = 0, so you place it by its ground position. Street tiles are a 12 × 12 m square that butt flush at any 90° rotation, and sidewalks come in 3 m modules.

What ships

Each asset is a self-contained, Draco-compressed GLB with embedded base color, ORM and normal textures, plus emissive maps where an asset glows. Shared maps tile at real-world scale via KHR_texture_transform, while lit signage and glazing use emissive_strength and transmission. A typed R3F component ships for every GLB, with nodes and materials named as in the file.

It suits urban driving and walking games, architecture and real estate visualization, transit and smart-city demos, and any scene that needs a believable street.

Realistic City FAQ

This kit uses PBR materials with embedded base color, ORM and normal textures instead of one flat vertex-color material, and it is built on a 12 m module at true metric scale rather than a 4 m grid. The trade-off is weight: a building carries many materials, so plan your draw calls when placing lots of distinct assets.
Street tiles are 12 × 12 m squares that butt flush at any 90° rotation, with lane markings continuing across seams. Larger pieces span whole modules: realistic_roundabout_01 covers 3 × 3 modules, realistic_rail_turnout_01 runs two modules long, and twelve realistic_rail_track_curve_01 pieces make a right angle. Sidewalk pieces use a 3 m footprint.
Each realistic_road_grade_ramp_01 module rises 0.745 m over 12 m, so ten of them climb exactly 7.45 m, the finished deck height on realistic_overpass_pier_01. Lay realistic_overpass_span_01 bays across the piers and close each end with realistic_overpass_abutment_01. The pier leaves 5.3 m of clear headroom for the road passing underneath.
Use sRGB output, which is three r166's default, plus an environment map; RoomEnvironment is enough. Under a bare directional light the PBR materials read flat. For time of day, swap between the day, sunset, overcast and night sky domes, each 600 m across, and add bloom if you want lit signs and windows to spill light.
Yes. The typed R3F components expose nodes and materials named exactly as the GLB names them, so you can change one material's color or hide a single part without touching the rest of the asset. Because textures are embedded in each GLB, there is no external texture folder or material library to wire up first.
Every asset is a web-optimized GLB (binary glTF) with Draco-compressed geometry — 155 files, 181.1 MB in total, about 7,840,313 triangles across the pack. Load them in plain three.js with GLTFLoader plus DRACOLoader — or in React Three Fiber with drei's useGLTF hook. The licensed download also includes typed React Three Fiber components for the pack.
Yes. The Pack Commercial License lets you use the assets in anything you ship, commercial included. What it does not allow is reselling or redistributing the files themselves — the license page has the full list.
Yes. A Pro subscription ($69/quarter) includes Realistic City for as long as it is active. Cancel anytime — access runs to the end of the period you've paid for. See pricing for the plans.
Yes — 18 of the 155 assets are on the free tier (marked Free in the grid above). Download them with a free account, no card and no attribution required. You can also walk the whole pack in the interactive 3D demo before you buy.
