A wordless keep-out: a human skull, its jaw wired back on and hanging open, driven down onto a rusted rebar spike lashed to a hewn stake. The skull has real eye sockets and a nasal opening you look into, a brow ridge and cheekbones, a worn row of teeth with gaps and a hairline crack over the crown. Tattered rag strips are knotted round the stake under two coils of rusted wire, and the stake stands in a cairn of stacked field stones on a heap of earth with weeds coming through.
