Jon Boat
The working skiff every camp keeps tied up: a riveted flat-bottom jon boat painted duck-blind olive, with a SQUARE bow transom as well as a square stern, a hard chine rail, a keel and two bottom strakes, rivet lines down the sheer and the chine, six floor frames, three bench thwarts on brackets, and oarlocks amidships. On the stern a proper little outboard — clamp bracket, midsection, two-tone cowl, tiller with a twist grip, gearcase with a cavitation plate and skeg, and a three-blade prop. A fuel tank, a bait bucket, a paddle and a coil of line rattle around inside. The boat that actually does the work while the airboat gets the photographs.
