An unmarked track worn through the ash by whatever still drives out here: twin ruts sunk into the dirt with berms thrown up beside them, tyre tread still pressed into their floors, polished dark and holding dark water in the low spots. A grassy crown runs between them, stones sit on the shoulders and gravel has washed to the rut edges. Every edge sits at the old track level, so tracks laid end to end still line up.
