Cypress Tree
The bald cypress — the tree the whole bayou is read through: a fluted trunk standing on a splayed buttress that flares straight out of the water, rising to the ragged, flat-topped, spreading crown a mature cypress carries, with knees breaking the surface around its foot and moss caught in the lower limbs. Tall enough to clear the shack line.
