Village well (ido) — a fluted stone curb open to a dark shaft and still water, crowned with an igeta timber frame crossed like the character for well; two posts on footing stones carry a ridge beam and a small curved tiled gable roof with ridge and onigawara, a pulley hanging under it with rope running to two coopered buckets, one down the shaft and one set on the frame; moss at the foot. The meeting-place of the lane.
