A cruciform scarecrow: a leaning, knotted timber post lashed to its crossbar with twine, dressed in a stuffed green work shirt with patched elbows and straw bursting out of the cuffs, the collar and the hem. A gathered burlap-sack head with X-stitched eyes and a stitched grin, a battered felt hat with a wavy brim and a feather in the band, a ragged red scarf, a work glove on one hand, and a crow perched on the far end of the bar.
