The haunted hay wagon: a farm cart on four SPOKED wheels — ten tapered spokes and a turned nave standing proud of an open felloe on both faces — over a real undercarriage of axles, bolsters, a reach and a raised tongue with its hitch ring. Cross-planked bed on two bearers, leaning stakes and rails down both sides, a headboard, and a tailgate dropped on its chains. On top, a mound of hay shedding loose straw over the sides with two pumpkins nested in it under a thrown rope, and a barn lantern hung off the rear stake still burning.
