A Colosseum-style amphitheater segment: four bays of travertine ashlar curving on the ellipse, three storeys of voussoired arches framed by engaged Tuscan, Ionic and Corinthian half-columns under a dentilled entablature that breaks forward over each column, and a solid attic with small windows, corbels and the sockets of the awning masts — two poles still standing. Both ends are broken back in a stepped ruin line, the fallen blocks lying where they dropped. Behind, the cavea: the marble podium and senators' steps, five rows of stone benches split by stairways, stripped at the far end to the concrete core, and the hypogeum walls showing through the arena sand.
