Cul-de-Sac
The signature suburban piece: the street runs in and opens into a bulb of asphalt wide enough to turn a car round, the kerb sweeping the whole circle unbroken, mown verge filling the four corners the circle leaves behind. A one-armed terminator by design — it closes a branch, which is what a cul-de-sac is for, and the three best addresses on the block are the ones fanned around it.
