Modern House
The design-forward hero, rebuilt: a long white render living box with a stepped timber-clad tower behind it, both capped by deep parapet reveals over a projecting fascia shadow-gap. A double-height curtain wall runs the living box, gridded by slim mullions with the panes recessed behind them; beside it a real entry recess — projecting render jambs, a lit soffit and a dark door — lands on a poured porch slab, steps down and runs out to a walkway. A cantilevered carport slab on steel columns covers the drive down the left flank, its soffit a lamp face so it lights rather than reading as a dark lid, and a full-length concrete planter of shrubs beds the glass into the ground. At night the curtain wall, the clerestory, the entry soffit and the carport all come on. The house on the block everybody photographs.
