Mailbox
The curb icon, rebuilt to the real thing: a chamfered cedar post with a cross-arm carrying a genuinely hollow tin tunnel — floor, flat flanks and a rolled stave arch around an open front — its hinged flap dropped ajar with the mail still sitting inside, the red flag up on its pivot, the house number down the flank, a newspaper tube slung underneath and a solar lamp on the ridge that glows at night. Leaning about two degrees, the way every mailbox on every street leans.
