Low-Poly Ice Drill Rig 3D Model (GLB)
The ice-core drill, the reason the station exists. A three-legged tripod with foot plates and tie bars carries a crown block and a grooved sheave; the winch cable runs up from a skid-mounted winch (spooled drum, motor with cooling fins, gearbox, brake lever) over the sheave and down to the drill string: cable head, bowed anti-torque springs, motor section and a core barrel wound with spiral flights, lowered into a flanged bore casing in a trampled snow berm. A control cabinet on legs with a display and indicator lamps is cabled to the winch and away to the generator, the cores lie banded with the years on a trestle trough beside two insulated core boxes, and a curved wall of sawn snow blocks breaks the wind behind it all.
