An open pole barn: six heavy oak posts on fieldstone pads, tie beams, king posts and knee braces in three bents, plates and a ridge beam carrying exposed rafters and purlins under a corrugated tin roof — real corrugations, a lapped second course, rust bleeding down from the nail lines and along the eaves. The back gable is closed with weathered board-and-batten; inside, square bales are stacked in stepped tiers with a few tumbled out, loose hay is heaped on the dirt floor with a hayfork in it, and a lantern hangs from the front tie beam.
